This corner serves as the trash dump for the local population. Why, you ask? Because there is NO TRASH BIN(S) in site! These vegetation planters which are used to block roads and beautify the area are the closest thing to a trash bin.
Recently, I observed about 6 workers cleaning the area while 3 municipal officials watched and discussed. So they, leave and 2 days later, viola, the area is again covered in trash. I don’t know what the officials were discussing, but maybe it should have been, “we need some trash bins at this location”. Did they think the area is cleaned once and then stays clean? Did they discuss that it is more expensive to have six workers clean the area than have the truck empty a bin regularly? Did they discuss it being harder to pick trash up from the ground than empty from a bin? If none of these issues, what were they discussing?
You can see this is by athletic fields where children activities are held daily. Notice to the left in the picture, a big open hole in the ground. Did the officials discuss the hole may be a hazard to those who walk in the area? Did they discuss the health hazard posed by the trash? Come on you municipal Rocket Scientists, this is a really simple problem to solve. BUY A TRASH BIN!
