The Municipality of Menzah VI has really done a nice job with landscaping by the large Super Market. They provided water to an area of new plants with efficient drip irrigation piping. The plants seem to be sustainable and the existing vegetation has been well manicured.
About 50 meters away from the new garden area, is a huge pile of disgusting trash. Of course, the wind has blown the trash so it is distributed across the entire surrounding area. This is a real shame because it is hard to appreciate the landscaping when it is covered in trash.
So this begs the question, why has the Municipality expended so much effort only to stop short of truly beautifying the area? In addition to ruining the aesthetics, the trash presents a health hazard. It will not be long before rodents carry disease and water contaminated with cholera cause real health catastrophes in Tunisia. Nice landscaping though!
