Sarah Abdulkarim architecture student : Environmental Youth Center in Beyoğlu ARC3001 fall semester project

My project is designed according to the surrounding, the design merges with the surrounding building heights and is tilted to collect energy from the sun and water from the rain according to the wind direction, this way the design maximizes use of efficient energy sources and helps the environment, the design also provides green spaces for the area and promotes gardening and care for nature.

As a youth center, it provides hostels for the youth, a food court, and different floors that contain different hobby areas. It is fully accessible by all groups of people, and the only flat roofs that exist on the design are green roofs.

the design was fully my idea, I was provided with the site to work on, and the limitations. My design instructor at the time helped me with the design development throughout the semester, he was very supportive of my ideas and encouraged me to perfect my design.

  • I like to consider my self a person who cares for the environment and the future of our planet as a whole, and this is represented in my design since i see this as a responsibility all of us future architects must be held accountable for.
